Was a regular of Cain's at about the time of this Tribune article (Tulsa Tribune, sigh) and was somewhat obsessed with the greater Greenwood/Archer neighborhood.I gather it's a far different world now, in that particular spot on the wrong side of the tracks, but I love that it survives. My father had the house band at the Cain's Ballroom from 1964 until 1968. They were called The American Strings. I have a bunch of pictures from the Cain's during that time. They backed any of the country stars that weren't traveling with a band yet. This included Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette.
